Question: How thick of a canvas should I look for in a wall tent and is there any option to color of canvas ?
Answer: If you shop locally in Canada, most manufacture buy the same option of canvas available through distributors. Mostly because of the high cost of transportation distributors only carry the standard DOUBLE FILL 100% cotton, army duck mineral colorless marine boat shrunk, Sunforger finished - Fire retardant, mildew resistant and water repellent. The canvas comes in rolls of 60 inches wide by the 100 yard rolls its lightweight and breathable.
The Canvas by law in Canada needs to have the stamp code CPAl-84 F/R - This code means the canvas is treated for fire retardancy.
In the USA not every state requires the stamp code CPAl-84 F/R and there for distributors are able to dye the canvas other colors and then treat the canvas themselves. Beware that the proper treatment is called Sunforger.
Question: For the fire ring (stove jack) What size should i get and where would you recommend the placement on the tent?
Answer: Unfortunally if you do not own a wall tent you might not have a wood stove. So the measurement of the stove jack really depends on the size of pipe your wood stove uses. But you may not know the size pipe hole until you purchase the wood stove. This causes a dilemma in the purchase of a wall tent. The standard size is 6" but some may prefer 5" or even 4". My suggestion would be to purchase a standard 6" stove jack. Most wood stove manufactures use this measurement as standard. It also gives you more options to choose the right wood stove for your wall tent.
We place our standard 6" stove jack centered about 6ft. from the ground up in the back wall. One other popular place to sewn in the stove jack. Facing the door on the left hand side 2ft. away from the front door and 2 ft away from the side wall on the roof.
Question: How can i clean the tent?
Answer: The best way to clean your Wall Tent is to set it up your garden hose and lightly clean off the dirt with plain water and a soft brush, then allow it to dry completely. We recommend not using bleach or soaps as as these can remove the special treatment on both sides of the fabric. However if you have mold & mildew damage mix these items together 4 quarts of water, 1 quart white vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon laundry detergent. Use a soft bristle brush with this solution on the affected areas and rinse thoroughly with plain water. After allow to dry completely in the natural heat of the sun outdoors.
